4D Super Max Rider Virtual Reality Rides

We tried the 4D Super Max Rider in SM Manila. I hadn't heard of it before but it sure was intriguing. I've always wanted to try virtual reality. Why 4D? The rides combine 3D videos with moving seats, that's why! So you not only see and hear what's happening onscreen, but you also experience every twist and turn.

We were the only customers that time, but if I'm not mistaken, 4D Rider Max is a Korean technology introduced in the Philippines just last year. So with a little more publicity, I'm sure it will become more popular.

There were more than 20 themes to choose from. Choosing was a bit hard, since all the choices seemed interesting. After a few minutes, we decided to try the roller coaster ride and an outer space ride. Each ride lasted for 10 minutes.

The staff were accommodating and helpful. Upon learning that we were first-timers to 4D Max Rider, they suggested their popular rides, helped us to our seats, and even assisted me in getting off the platform since I looked a little disoriented hehe.

The rides were very enjoyable. Compared to a real roller coaster ride, this was obviously a lot safer. I usually shy away from roller coaster rides due to safety concerns but knowing that I was sitting just a few feet above the ground, with the staff standing by, made me enjoy the 4D Max Rider rides. Surprisingly, I found the outer space ride wilder than the roller coaster one. I had to really hold on tight for that one.

In case you get nauseous during the ride, you can hit the stop button to stop the ride before you embarrass yourself. :D

Shakespeare in Hollywood

Shakespeare in Hollywood

Boyfie and I were looking for new things to do during weekends, aside from the usual pigging out. I came across news about Repertory Philippines' Shakespeare in Hollywood and bought tickets. Truth be told, I was feeling neutral. I am not much into theater and practically clueless about Shakespeare's plays. I can't even remember the last play I attended (a requirement during my student days more than a decade ago). I've always considered theater actors much more talented and dedicated than their on-screen counterparts though, and with that I decided to get out of my cave and get a little culture.

Synopsis: (synopsis and image from Repertory Philippines' site)

A no holds Bard Comedy!

It's 1934, and Shakespeare's most famous fairies, Oberon and Puck, have magically materialized on the Warner Bros. Hollywood set of Max Reinhardt's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Instantly smitten by the glitz and glamour of show biz, the two are ushered onto the silver screen to play (who else?) themselves. With a little help from a feisty flower, blonde bombshells, movie moguls, and arrogant "asses" are tossed into loopy love triangles, with raucous results. The mischievous magic of moviedom sparkles in this hilarious comic romp.

Commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company, Shakespeare in Hollywood had its world premier in 2003 at Arena Stage and won the Helen Hayes award for Best New Play of the Year.

Virtual Hello

Hello everyone!

As the title implies, this blog will feature my unsugarcoated reviews. I'm a food lover so many of the reviews will be those of restaurants and food items, with reviews about movies, online services, events, and everything else appearing occasionally.

No whitewashing here. Expect truthful reviews. Feel free to agree or disagree by posting your comments.

This blog was created first week of October 2011. Some posts (including this one) are dated in the past since I'll be incorporating earlier loose reviews here.

For businesses who are looking for online buzz for their products and services, you can contact me at admin@unsugarcoatedreviews.com. I do accept invites and freebies, but reviews are not guaranteed to be positive. So take your risk! Criticisms, if any, will be limited to constructive criticisms, though, and we can all use that, right?
